Billericay Foodbank Visit

Meeting with Stuart Gibbs one of the hard working Trustees and Volunteers at Billericay Foodbank. We spoke about the food ladders model and how with the right design food banks can help move people from dependence to community and then to indepence. So thankful for the Billericay foodbank and the compassion it communicates for our community.

We need to continue to join the dots between front line providers, DWP and council services in Billericay. Here’s my 3 point plan inspired by Radical help by Hillary Cottam:

  1. Establish a hub to integrate front-line providers, DWP, and council services in Billericay, ensuring swift communication and tailored support.

  2. Implement community empowerment initiatives like skill-sharing workshops and mutual aid networks to foster local resilience and reduce dependency on external services.

  3. Use data analysis to inform decision-making, optimise resource distribution, measuring the effectiveness of interventions in meeting the community's evolving needs.
